Yesterday was a BIG day for our team!
Summer Game Fest 2025 opened the show with the announcement of Mortal Shell 2 – an ambitious standalone sequel to action-RPG hit that allowed us to become an independent studio and work full-time on projects we’re passionate about.
I had a pleasure to direct+edit Mortal Shell 2 reveal trailer and capture the in-game screenshots below.
It’s a special moment to be able to finally share this with the world and our team couldn’t be more thrilled with the reception so far.
Both the game itself, and this first trailer is a testament to what a team of 30 developers can do when given the chance. Its important to mention, that what you see here is a collective effort not only from artists, animators, vfx/sfx folks, but also all those responsible for the game to actually run in a ‘compiled build’ and turn player’s input into an interactable experience.
Videogames is the closest thing we get to creating simulated worlds, and the amount of work that goes into it from game designers and software engineers is insane and not for the faint of heart. 95% of the footage in the trailer is me recording screen while running/flying around the world in our latest development build with controller in hands; with only few non-combat scenes still captured inside the unreal engine editor (for obvious still work-in-progress technical reasons).
Huge congrats and a heartfelt thank you to all the Mortal Shell fans who supported us throughout the years, our amazingly talented Cold Symmetry team and our publishing partners at Playstack.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but I am so proud of the progress we’ve made as a studio to be able to do something like this and we cannot wait to share the game with the world in 2026.
Wishlist the game on Steam if you want to support us, and visit mortalshell.com to sign up for the eventual Beta! Thank you all!!
